Bought ST Engineering

Image
I bought 500 shares of ST Engineering today at $2.80. I have been watching this solid blue chip stock for quite some time and decided to pick up this solid blue chip stock into my dividend stocks portfolio Based on the 2019 EPS, STE is trading at PE of 15. I am not aiming for a rebound, it will be Long term play for me. A PE of 15 is reasonable for me. At dividends of $0.15 per share, it will be a yield of 5.3%. For a solid blue chip stock that has a ROE of 26 with dividend yield of 5.3 percent. I am quite comfortable to hold this stock for Long term. The moat is strong as ST engineering is very established in Singapore. Recent acquisitions also helps to bring in more value for shareholders. Furthermore, STE has an order book of 15.3 billion. In the current situation of the pandemic, with the company secured a large order book can help to bring in some guaranteed profits which is beneficial to shareholders in this time of uncertainty.

Points to take note in a correction

Image
My portfolio down about 20% as of 16 Mar. I found out there are some learning points for me to take note of: 1) Some stocks are bought at a premium e.g. Sph reit. 2) Catching falling knives: e.g. cdg, I can able more patient and monitor the stock for some more time. 3) Did not have a substantial warchest, I have to wait for my pay in order for me to buy more stocks.  Future outlook: The market is going to recover. We do not have an issue of liquidity like the 2008. Once the pandemic and oil issues are resolved, market will be back to normal. Stocks in my watchlist: Koufu: Potential growth, price drop a lot, now is around 11-12 PE. Sheng Siong: Strong growth, PE around 20 right now.  Investors gives this kind of strong growth stocks a high PE of 20-25. Lower than 20 PE will be a steal provided that the growth is substainable. Haw Par: Value stock, looking for capital gain, currently 0.7 PB DBS: Solid blue chip, always trading at premium, now slightl...

Bought more Comfort Delgro

Bought 600 more units of comfort delgro at $1.96. The market has been dropping consecutively for the past few days. The amount of time that I waited for my order to be filled was around 1 minute. Immediately I set up my order, price drop to $1.95. At $1.96 is just nice about 16 PE for cdg 2019 full year EPS. Even thought comfort delgro cut their dividend recently, this is more of a long term play for me. In Long term, I think comfort delgro business is still quite defensive due to the public transport segment. I will wait for the taxi segment to be stabilised. As of now I am still down 7 plus percent after add more cdg.

Bought more Koufu

Today I bought more Koufu. I bought 1400 shares more, currently my average cost price is around $0.70. My first tranche I bought around $0.675. As you can see, ever since then, Koufu stock price is on a upwards trend until recently it goes back down to 0.72 range again. I think that the coronavirus is temporary, it will be over sometime. Koufu business is still strong. Besides the double digit growth in the last quarter report, Koufu has minimal debt and ample of cash. In 2020, Koufu will be launching The Central kitchen building. That should be potential catalyst for Koufu. I am also very interested to see how Koufu milk tea business is going to be. Personally, I have seen the queue for R&B tea, there are quite a lot of people. At a PE of 14, I think Koufu is still cheap.

A lesson to learn: selling of sti etf

I have started to do dca for sti etf for quite sometime. Not Long ago, I just received $14.12 of dividends from g3b. Now I am selling all my 262 units of my g3b. This is a lesson to be learn. Due to the Wuhan virus, the market will definitely take a hit especially the tourism sector. I have to sell my g3b to prepare more cash for potentials buys in the coming future. This all can be prevented, if I have more cash on me. I learnt that instead of investing close to 80 percent of my cash in the market. I should keep more cash in my war chest and emergency funds. Therefore, I will save more cash in the future to prevent such scenario.
